Sturgill Simpson has written the theme for Scorsese's HBO music industry drama Vinyl
Loose Music's Sturgill Simpson has penned the theme tune for Vinyl, Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger's eagerly anticipated HBO drama about the music industry in 1970s New York.
Sturgill Simpson sounds like this if you don't know him already.
Vinyl's theme tune is titled "Sugar Daddy". Speaking to Billboard, the show's music supervisor Randall Poster said: "[the song] had to serve a larger purpose than something that was just episodic. It’s not that it serves as a narrative. Sturgill just captured this spirit of rock and roll. It feels classic and contemporary.”
Simpson's label says: "We can’t fucking wait."
The 10-episode first season airs on 14 February.
