Stats unveil new single "Old Flames"
Stats are back with new song "Old Flames", the second track to be shared from their upcoming album Powys 1999.
"Old Flames" follows on from last month's lead single "Naturalise Me".
Lead vocalist Ed Seed says of the track, "When you’re pledging your future together with someone, what do you do with the past you don’t share - do you tell each other everything, or do you just agree not to talk about it? And what if there’s one ex you’re just not sure is completely, ex? I guess your romantic past stands in here for your whole lives before you met each other - there’s so much you both went through to become these people who want to be with each other…but you wouldn’t want them to know every little thing…would you?"
Powys 1999 will follow on from their 2019 debut LP Other People's Lives.
They recorded the album at a residential studio near Powys. Seed says, "I knew we had to go back to Wales to make this album. I also knew I didn't want it to be sunny and meaninglessly pretty. It had to be October, when the weather's unpredictable. I wanted the band to be able to step outside and feel that."
He adds, "This record isn’t exactly about Powys or 1999, but I was reaching for that landscape and thinking about some of the people who I grew up with, and especially the different reasons people came from elsewhere to live there."
