St. Vincent releases new version of "New York" featuring X Japan's Yoshiki
St. Vincent is back with a new rendition of her MASSEDUCATION track "New York", which features strings from X Japan's Yoshiki.
"New York" originally featured on St. Vincent's 2017 LP MASSEDUCTION, but today, Annie Clark has shared a new version of "New York" featuring strings by X Japan's Yoshiki.
St. Vincent says of the new rendition, "It was an honor to work with the amazing YOSHIKI on this new version of "New York". Yoshiki’s arrangement added to the song in the way time or distance transform longtime friends or relationships: the original is still recognisable, but subtly and significantly altered."
Yoshiki wrote of the song on Twitter, "I admire how St. Vincent approaches music in an innovative way. NY is a great song to start with, I'm grateful that she trusted me to rearrange the song."
