slowthai says he is "not a hero" and asks NME to forward his award to host Katherine Ryan
slowthai has responded to last night's events at the NME Awards, saying he is "not a hero", and asked for his award to be forwarded on to host and comedian Katherine Ryan.
The Nothing Great About Britain rapper really went from hero to zero in less than an hour at last night's NME Awards after making a couple of weird comments to host Katherine Ryan while accepting his Hero of The Year award, and responded to hecklers in the crowd by throwing his microphone and a glass of champagne into the crowd.
slowthai has just posted an apology on Twitter, writing, "NME please forward my award to Katherine Ryan for she is the hero of the year. What started as a joke between us escalated to a point of shameful actions on my part. I want to unreservedly apologise, there is no excuse and I am sorry. I am not a hero."
In a second tweet, he adds, "Katherine, you are a master at your craft and next time i'll take my seat and leave the comedy to you. To any woman or man who saw a reflection of situations they've been in in those videos, I am sorry. I promise to do better. Let's talk here."

Katherine Ryan has since replied to slowthai's apology on Twitter, writing, "knew you were joking and congratulations on your very award-worthy album! I hope you know that a bad day on social media passes so quickly. Everything will be better tomorrow."
