Sinead O'Brien releases new single "GIRLKIND"
Irish artist Sinead O'Brien has unveiled new single "GIRLKIND", which is lifted from her debut album that's yet to be announced.
"GIRLKIND" follows O'Brien's first release of 2021, "Kid Stuff", that landed in April, and is teamed with a Saskia Dixie-directed video.
O'Brien says of the Dan Carey-produced track, "I am out in the elements. At the mercy of others. Pulled in all directions. I wait endless. The phenomenon of the moving statues in Ireland during the 1980s becomes a motif. "When the virgin rocks the statues come to stop." These verses are glimpses into experience. Girlkind and Humanhood." Persevering eternity. Balancing, evaluating. Going back and forth. Keep forging a way through."
The new single will appear on O'Brien's forthcoming debut album, which is yet to be announced.
As well as releasing her own music this year, O'Brien featured on Andy Bell's GLOK track "Maintaining the Machine" in June.
