Samantha Urbani of Friends shares new solo single "1 2 3 4"
Samantha Urbani, the former frontwoman of NYC band Friends, has released her first solo track, "1 2 3 4".
The funk-laded electro belter dips into '80s pop and woozy environments, and is co-produced by Sam Mehran (Test Icicles) and Urbani herself. Dev Hynes provided the strings and horn arrangements.
On the Soundcloud page, Urbani's blurb states that: "Parts were recorded on the MetroNorth train from New Haven to Grand Central, in Dev's old East Village apartment, in Samantha's secret hermit home, in Matt's Bushwick shred palace, and in Sam's Hollywood dungeon studio."
It looks like this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Urbani's solo material:
