Run The Jewels confirm they will make Meow The Jewels; watch the trailer now
It started off as a complete joke from El-P and Killer Mike, but someone took the deluxe edition prank to heart and launched a Kickstarter campaign. Now, after meeting the $40,000 funding - it's actually raised almost $60,000 at the time of writing - the duo have confirmed that the record will happen.
Meow The Jewels is set to be a remake of their upcoming RTJ2 record. The twist? It's entirely made from cat noises. El-P has also accrued a variety of guests, including: Boots, Portishead’s Geoff Barrow, Baauer, Just Blaze, Nick Hook, Dan The Automator, Prince Paul, The Alchemist, Zola Jesus and Skywlkr.
All the profits of Meow The Jewels will be for a "charity directly benefiting the families of Eric Garner and Mike Brown."
