Royal Blood, The Amazons, ELIZA, and more contribute to first silent Christmas track

The first ever silent Christmas track has landed from The Children’s Society, which sees Royal Blood, The Amazons, ELIZA, and more contributing their silence to raise awareness for vulnerable children.

The track opens with a 40-second introduction to The Children's Society with details on how to donate, before allowing a two-and-a-half-minute track of silence to play out.

Musicians that have contributed to "The Silent Choir" include Royal Blood, The Amazons, ELIZA, HRVY, KT Tunstall, Martin Kemp, Leah Weller, Freddie Long and Joanna Forest.

According to a press release, the aim of the silent track is to highlight "the stark reality for thousands of children, suffering in silence, who will be experiencing abuse and neglect this Christmas".

Speaking about the single, Mark Russell, Chief Executive of The Children’s Society says, "Christmas is a time for family, love, light, and music. Yet, for so many children around the UK, it is none of these things. Instead it is a reminder of how different their lives are from those around them. For them, Christmas is broken."

He adds, "The silent track is a much-needed reminder that so many children are deprived not only of the Christmas spirit but of a voice each and every day. Alongside the artists who have given their silence to show their solidarity, we believe that we can give a voice to the children who need us the most, this Christmas and beyond."
