Earlier this month, Occupy Wall Street activist Cecily McMillan was convicted of assaulting a NY police officer during a 2012 demonstration. Afterward, nine of the 12 convicting jurors wrote a letter to Judge Ronald A. Zweibel requesting she not be incarcerated, claiming they did not realize the severity of the punishment when voting to convict.
Now, The Voice Project has begun a letter writing campaign, which has received letters of support from Kim Gordon, Chvrches’ Lauren Mayberry, Pussy Riot’s Nadya Tolokonnikova and director Spike Jonze, among others.
Check out the letters via the image below, and visit The Voice Project for more info.
