RAYE teams up with Riton on first single as an independent artist "I Don't Want You"
Riton and RAYE have joined forces on new banger "I Don't Want You", which is RAYE's first new outing since parting ways with Polydor Records in July.
"I Don't Want You" sees Riton sample Dominica's "Gotta Let You Go", and is RAYE's first new material as an independent artist, after reaching an agreement with Polydor Records in July to "part ways".
RAYE says of the collaboration, "I wrote this song on the day I became independent. I hadn’t written for a long while before this day so it just felt really euphoric and so fun to make. I got sent the beat from Riton and immediately knew where I wanted to take it. It’s about empowering yourself from those who refuse to give you the love you deserve. Switching up your energy, and taking the power back."
Riton adds, "I’m a huge fan of RAYE’s work and the top line she delivered here is one of the best I’ve ever heard - the combination of that with a sample from one of my favourite house records of all time in Dominica is potent."
The new track follows RAYE's appearance on the Girl Power remix of Anne-Marie and Little Mix's "Kiss My (Uh-Oh)" with Stefflon Don and Becky Hill last month, and marks her first new single since June's "Call On Me", which was her final release before leaving Polydor Records.
