Pussy Riot member transferred to prison hospital
Jailed Pussy Riot member Nadezhda Tolokonnikova has been transferred to a prison hospital after suffering from severe headaches.
The punk activist was moved on 24 January after her condition was deemed “very serious”.
The Guardian reports that the 22 year old had been forced to sleep barracks with up to 200 other women and undergo 8 hours of manual labour a day.
Last year three members of the punk band/political group were found guilty of “hooliganism motivated by religious hatred” and sentenced to two years in jail.
The trio had been the subject of a lengthy trial following the performance of a “punk prayer” in the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. The song requested that the Virgin Mary drive Russian president Vladimir Putin from power.
Tolokonnikova was sentenced along with Maria Alyokhina, 24, and Yekaterina Samutsevich, 30; the latter of whom has since been released.
