Prince's surprise Deliverance EP has been axed following a lawsuit from the late star's estate
A brand-spankin' new Prince EP was announced earlier this week - but it's been unceremoniously yanked at the last minute.
The short-player, which was set to feature six unreleased tracks, was assembled by collaborator George Ian Boxill. Apparently Boxill didn't actually have the rights to distribute the EP, with Paisley Park and Prince's estate suing the engineer to halt the release.
Since the lawsuit the EP - titled Deliverance - has vanished from iTunes, Amazon, Apple Music, and more, report TMZ. Boxill has been ordered to turn over the recordings to the estate as well after a judge ruled in favour of the late icon's estate.
The lawsuit brought against the release reportedly revealed a confidentially agreement signed by Boxill that prevented him from releasing any music as every note of music recorded with Prince "would remain Prince’s sole and exclusive property."
The EP was originally slated to coincide with the first anniversary of Prince's death, 21 April.
