Post Malone to headline virtual concert on Pokémon Day to celebrate 25th anniversary
Pokémon is celebrating its 25th anniversary throughout 2021, but on Pokémon Day later this month, Post Malone will headline the franchise's virtual concert.
Later this month, Post Malone will headline the Pokémon Day 25th anniversary concert, which will be available to watch for free via Pokémon's YouTube channel, Twitch channel, and 25th anniversary website.
The virtual concert will take place on Pokémon Day, which occurs on 27 February each year to celebrate the release of the first Pokémon games in 1996, Red and Green.
Post Malone revealed to Billboard that the event is sentimental as he is also 25, and grew up with the franchise, "I’ve been a fan for such a long time, kind of grew up with it. Celebrating 25 years is a big deal, so we decided to do it together."
According to Billboard, the virtual show will kick off Universal Music Group and Pokémon's artist-involved series called P25 Music. More details for the series are due to be revealed at the end of Post Malone's show.
Post Malone also told Billboard that there "may be some surprises" during his virtual show, and added later that he's got "some new music" arriving this year.
