Phosphorescent's midnight set at End of the Road Festival was everything you wanted it to be

Following a triumphant Garden Stage performance earlier in the evening, Matthew Houck, the man also known as Phosphorescent, treated End of the Road Festival's night-owls to a secret midnight set at the intimate piano stage last night.

Manfully battling against the thumping soul from the nearby Woodland Disco ("it's tough, they're some shit hot jams"), Houck opened with fan favourite "Cocaine Lights" and took several audience requests, also finding the time to cover Woody Guthrie's timeless "This Land Is Your Land", which he introduced as "still being so relevant, for a song from so long ago".

The set culminated with his 2007 epic "My Dove, My Lamb", which segued into a coda comprising the chorus to Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Bad Moon Rising" looped with varying degrees of reverence to the source material, perfectly wrapping up a formidable day of music at Larmer Tree Gardens.
