Paul Weller delays new album and releases breezy "Village" track
Paul Weller has shared his new single "Village", which is lifted from his forthcoming On Sunset album that's been delayed for a week due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"Village" is the second offering to be shared from On Sunset, and follows on from Weller's Col3trane collaboration "Earth Beat" that arrived in March.
Weller says of the breezy new track, "It’s a response to being told that we’ve all got to explore the Amazon and climb Everest to make our lives complete, and there’s a guy who says, fuck all that, I’ve got heaven around me."
Weller started creating On Sunset after his 2018 LP True Meaning. On Sunset's opening track "Mirror Ball" was recorded in the True Meaning sessions, and was originally slated to be a b-side.
The new album will feature contributions from The Staves, The Strype’s guitarist Josh McClorey, French singer Julie Gros, Slade’s Jim Lea, and more.
