Nick Cave says he would be "very happy" with an Elvis-themed funeral
Nick Cave has discussed what songs he would like to be played at his own funeral in the latest response on his fan Q+A site The Red Hand Files, and says he "would be very happy with" an Elvis-themed funeral.
In the latest response on Nick Cave's fan Q+A site The Red Hand Files, Doug from Aberdeen asks Cave what songs he would like to be played at his own funeral, after explaining he recently hosted an Elvis-themed funeral for his own father.
Cave revealed in his response that an Elvis-themed funeral would be something he'd be "very happy with". Cave wrote, "I was very moved by your letter. I’m sure your dad would have been very happy with his Elvis themed funeral. Thinking about it, I would be very happy with one too — to be ushered into the next world by the voice of the greatest rock ‘n’ roll singer of them all. "Kentucky Rain", that’s what I’d like, "Kentucky Rain" and "How Great Thou Art" — Elvis singing gospel, with heaven and all its angels listening. It was a lovely thing to do for your dad. Sounds like you did a great job."
The latest response follows last month's CARNAGE album with The Bad Seeds bandmate Warren Ellis.
Earlier this month, Cave revealed that "White Elephant" from CARNAGE was created as part of a deal he made with friend and British artist Thomas Houseago. He also revealed that "White Elephant" "would kick-start a period of intense lyric writing for me that would culminate in Carnage", and revealed that Houseago claimed "the painting he did for me broke him open and got him working again."
