Mondo Cozmo shares new single "Sixes and Sevens"
L.A.'s Mondo Cozmo reveals his adrenaline-fuelled punk charmer "Sixes and Sevens".
"Sixes and Sevens" follows "Higher", "Shine", "Hold On To Me", and "Plastic Soul" in previewing the rock'n'roller's eagerly awaited debut LP. It comes with an explosive set of visuals by Travis Shinn and Jeremy Danger.
Check it out below - Cozmo answers a few questions for us after.
Could you tell us about Mondo Cozmo?
I write and record songs out of a guest bedroom in east Los Angeles.
Can you tell us about the new single?
It's a killer.
How did it come together?
The vocal is a scratch track that we kept.
What's it about?
Can't say.
What does it sound like to you?
Sounds like a hurricane.
How does the video reflect the music?
The label asked for a video so my manager and I asked for money to go to Mexico to shoot a two-day bender.
What was it like filming the visuals?
Was probably the best video ever to shoot 'cause my buddy Travis just followed Mels (manager) and I around Mexico for a couple days and then sent over an edit.
There's a fair bit of drinking in the clip - what's your poison?
I'm a lager guy.
It's a pretty chaotic track with lots of energy... is this representative of the album?
Yeah, I played it for The Chemical Brothers and they said it has "real spirit". I thought that's either really nice or just something they tell everybody.
How is the album coming along?
It's done. I sent it in last week to get mixed. I rented a house in Joshua tree and went out by myself to finish the album for two weeks.
What should we expect?
Hit$.
When should we expect it?
Summer.
How does the music translate live?
Live show is fuckin' money boss.
What are you looking forward to in 2017?
Drink tickets.
What scares you about the year ahead?
Rehab.
