MGMT are nearly done with work on their new album
MGMT may be almost finished with work on their long-awaited fourth album, providing an update to their progress on Twitter.
Possibly just sang last singing for new album?! Title track
— MGMT (@whoisMGMT) April 1, 2017
Yep, we realise the date this was posted, but given the recentish chatter about mixing being completed on various tracks, it's either pure coincidence or a subtle long con with tiny payoff.
At the end of 2015, core members Andrew VanWyngarden and Ben Goldwasser claimed that 2016 would be the year that MGMT "re-dominates your mind hole", though they did clarify (in September) that they meant "2017". Given the amount of live dates they've got lined up, it does look a lot like they'll finally be fulfilling their promise to dominate our mind holes once more.
