Marlon Williams unveils breezy new cut "Easy Does It"
Marlon Williams has shared a fourth preview of his My Boy album with a new single titled "Easy Does It".
"Easy Does It" is the fourth outing from Williams' upcoming album, following "River Rival", "Thinking Of Nina" and "My Boy", and is teamed with a visualiser directed by Williams and Martin Sagadin.
"I’ve always loved Lee Hazlewood’s personification of "Easy" in his song "Easy and Me"; what a great way of cutting to the point," Williams explains. "It worked for the Greeks, it works for Māori too. I wanted everything about this song to be as gentle as possible. From Delaney Davidson’s lap steel intro with its Pacifica 6th chords to the whispered vocal delivery to the soft summer visualiser which is something of an addendum to the "My Boy" video: the boys, sweaty from the days digging and dancing, launching into the shallows of lyttelton harbor, hoping to lure some poor sailors to a watery grave."
My Boy will follow 2020's Plastic Boquet collaborative album with Kacy & Clayton, and will be his first solo album since 2018's Make Way for Love.
Last month Williams covered Sandy Denny's "It'll Take A Long Time" live in session for Best Fit.
