You can hear a new Maggie Rogers track but you're gonna have to sweat for it
Maggie Rogers has hooked up with The North Face to let you hear outdoors-inspired single “Split Stones” - but you're gonna have to move around a lot to do it.
“The Release Project" - a collaboration between Rogers and the clothing brand - is an immersive digital experience that reveals “Split Stones” layer by layer through movement. With more movement, more layers of the song are played until the full length track is unlocked.

The collab also marks the release of The North Face's new Ventrix jacket, which lets excess heat escape through movement (see what they did there?) and exertion for balanced warmth and breathability.
“I took the first sound samples for ‘Split Stones’ on a month-long backpacking trip in Oregon during the summer of 2013," says Rogers. "I’ve been collecting samples and piecing the song together in bedroom studios and trails ever since...I’m super excited about combining the two things I love – technology and the environment - to create a way that people can hear the song, but also feel a little bit a part of the action and process that inspired it.”
Rogers is also featured in the Ventrix campaign film, directed by filmmaker Grant Singer. North Face athletes Jimmy Chin, Alex Honnold and Emily Harrington also appear in the film, which was shot in Portland and Mount Hood, Oregon and El Plomo, Chile.
The Ventrix jacket is The North Face’s next evolution of synthetic-insulation technology designed for highly aerobic activity in variable weather conditions. It has technology that features laser-perforation to the insulation that's designed to expand and release heat or contract and retain heat with movement to keep from overheating or sweating out. There's styles available for men and women, starting at £200 for the jacket and 240 for the hoodie. Find out more at thenorthface.com.
