Mac DeMarco's "old, stinky" shoes sell on eBay for £13,800
Remember those filthy old Vans that Mac DeMarco was selling on eBay? Well they went for £13,800 ($21,100).
Bidding began at 99 cents, and you can see how it rapidly spiralling into the higher echelons of bank balances here. All the money has been raised for charity.
In a post accompanying the lot, DeMarco wrote:
"I'm selling an old pair of my shoes. I've John Hancocked the left shoe. Will anyone buy an old stinky pair of shoes? I don't know. lets wait and see.
I'll probably throw some other crap in the box before shipping it, I dunno what.
If you're one of those kids who tried to take them off my feet while I was crowd surfing at some point this year, nice try jackass. But hey, here's another opportunity for you to have them.
All of the profit will go to Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls."
Within hours of the lot going up, it'd accrued bids of thousands of dollars. Some lucky soul has now purchased the shoes, though the new owner remains a mystery.
