M.I.A. drops new single "Goals" ahead of her Meltdown Festival
M.I.A. has shared new track/video "Goals" ahead of her Meltdown Festival, which begins this weekend.
Portugal's Branko (who worked on last year's AIM LP) produces the cut, which is described by M.I.A. as a "love letter to her fans". The accompanying visuals features work of photographer/artist Jaime Martinez, who is signed to M.I.A.'s own N.E.E.T. label - the vid will be shown as an installation in various spots during the festival.
Meltdown Festival, this year curated by M.I.A., features performances by Giggs, Princess Nokia, Yung Lean, Mykki Blanco, Crystal Castles, and more.
As well as the music, there'll be an array of free activities spanning a variety of creative disciplines, including multimedia, visual arts, and film. There will also be a free all-day block party, hip-hop karaoke, and a mass carnival - in collaboration with local communities - plus a range of events marking Refugee Week on 18 June. A Meltdown Mela - "a day of outdoor entertainment for all the family celebrating art and culture from South Asia" - will also take place.
