Ludovico Einaudi's new LP sells more digital copies than physical
Italian composer, Ludovico Einaudi is the first classical musician to sell more digital albums than physical ones.
The pianist, who released studio album In a Time Lapse last week, recently reached No.24 in the Official UK Album Chart.
Out of the overall sales for that LP, 72% have been confirmed by the Official Charts Company to be digital copies with only 28% physical releases.
OCC managing director Martin Talbot said of the feat:
“Einaudi’s impressive achievement is also a perfect illustration of the coming of age of digital classical music.
Since we launched the Official Classical Singles Chart last spring, Ludovico Einaudi has been one of its biggest and most consistent stars – and is at Number 1 and 2 in the current Top 10.”
