Lowtide unfurl gauzy new number "Alibi" ahead of debut UK tour
Australian shoegazers Lowtide crank up the dreaminess on "Alibi", a pillowy new offering that arrives ahead of their first-ever UK shows.
The Melbourne group weave coarse ribbons of guitar between shimmering melodies and vocal lines, with the fizzing fuzz melange punctured only by bolshy percussion. It's an effortlessly dreamy affair full of moments that hoist you into a realm of comfort and peace - a realm that jars against the song's lyrical ideas.
"'Alibi' is about a relationship burning out - when the mundane has well and truly overshadowed the magical, but you're still stuck in it," explain Lowtide.
Lowtide released their debut record in 2014 (2016 internationally - it features impressive numbers such as "Held") and are edging ever closer to the completion of its follow up - they recently revealed that they've finished recording sessions. The band also confirmed the departure of member Giles Simon in the same statement..
Lowtide are set to play their first UK shows as part of a European tour this month and next, with dates at End Of The Road Festival, London's The Islington, and Glasgow's Broadcast among those confirmed.
