Listen to Rebecca Clements' barebones cover of "Boys Don't Cry"
Rebecca Clements has unveiled her tender cover of The Cure's "Boys Don't Cry", and you can hear it first on Best Fit.
The Bristol-born singer wowed us last year with tracks like "Wildlife" and "Coma Boy", and has just released a new single called "Pure Wasted".
This new rendition of Robert Smith & Co.'s classic heartache anthem is stripped back to the bones, with nowt but reverb-laced guitars and a low throb of bass to accompany Clements' striking vocal line. It's built to moments of solace with nothing but your own thoughts and a good view for company.
Speaking about the cover, Clements said:
"I chose to cover Boys Don't Cry as I grew up listening to British bands and I think The Cure are one of the best. They have been a big influence on my songwriting so I thought it would be cool to try a take on it. For me, they are such an iconic band and Boys Don't Cry is so quirky yet still so timeless so it was fun interpreting that."
