Listen to a MIDI version of Father John Misty's upcoming I Love You, Honeybear LP
Father John Misty, AKA J. Tillman, is streaming his new album I Love You, Honeybear via his own new SAP digital streaming service.
Sort of, anyway. His new 'service' is actually a parody of the streaming/Spotify debate.
It's all an elaborate ruse, and the stream is actually an entirely rearranged MIDI version of the album that sounds like it was made by Wii Music, or should feature as the background OST for an old point'n'clock adventure game. It's perversely enjoyable though, and the amount of time he must've spent on a prank is both impressive and a little worrying. Regardless, if you'd ever prayed for a bizarre chiptune-y version of Father John Misty, he's delivered.
Take a listen here, and look out for tongue-in-cheek gems like
"For the fans, SAP helps make the daily barrage of content that much easier to analyze and rate, leaving more time for discoverness, freedoming, and sharehood."
I Love You, Honeybear is out 9 February on Bella Union.
