Liam Gallagher returns with latest offering "The River"

27 June 2019, 15:44 | Written by Cerys Kenneally

Liam Gallagher has shared new single "The River", the second to be lifted from his forthcoming second record, Why Me? Why Not.

"The River" arrives after lead single "Shockwave" that dropped earlier this month.

Gallagher's forthcoming album Why Me? Why Not. follows on from 2017's As You Were.

Speaking about his new record, Gallagher says, "I wrote some songs on my own for the last album, but this time it’s all co-writes. Reason being is I want it to be even better than As You Were. I know my strengths and I know my limitations. I’m an ok songwriter, but I’m a great singer and frontman. I want the second album to be a step-up because the hardest thing to do is to make something the same, only better. So that’s what we’ve done."

"The River" is out now. Why Me? Why Not. will be released 20 September via Warner Records. Liam Gallagher will play London's O2 Arena on 28 November. Tickets go on sale 9am on 12 July.
