Lee Ranaldo announces new album with band The Dust
Sonic Youth guitarist, Lee Ranaldo has dropped opener ‘Lecce, Leaving’ from forthcoming LP Last Night On Earth.
Ranaldo has set a release date of 8 October for the record, which will become the first he’s released with new band The Dust – consisting of his former bandmate Steve Shelley, Adam Licht and Tim Lüntzel. Last Night on Earth is the follow-up to 2012′s Between the Times and the Tides, and will coincide with extensive touring of the US and Canada, as well as a headline show at London’s The Garage on 21 November.
Ranaldo recently revealed that he wrote the majority of the new record with an acoustic guitar while sheltering from Hurricane Sandy in October. To get a flavour of this new direction, listen to album opener ‘Lecce, Leaving’ below.
