King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard announce new double album with 18-minute lead single
King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard have announced details of their new double album Omnium Gatherum, and have released 18-minute track "The Dripping Tap" as the lead outing.
"The Dripping Tap" is King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard's first outing since their Butterfly 3001 remix album landed in January, and will feature on their 20th album (and first ever double album) Omnium Gatherum.
Omnium Gatherum will follow King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard's 2021 albums LW and Butterfly 3000, and is the first album the band recorded together since the pandemic.
The band's Stu Mackenzie says the album title is "literally Latin for 'a collection of miscellaneous people or things'."
He adds, "This recording session felt significant. Significant because it was the first time all six Gizzards had gotten together after an extraordinarily long time in lockdown. Significant because it produced the longest studio recording we’ve ever released. Significant because (I think) it’s going to change the way we write and record music - at least for a while… A turning point. A touchstone. I think we’re entering into our ‘jammy period’. It feels good."
