Kele unveils new single "Between Me and My Maker"

02 October 2019, 11:14 | Written by Cerys Kenneally

Kele has returned with new single "Between Me and My Maker", the second offering to be lifted from his forthcoming album 2042.

"Between Me and My Maker" is the second single to be shared from Kele's new album, after last month's lead single "Jungle Bunny".

Speaking about the new single, Kele says, ""Between Me and My Maker" is an ayahuasca-fuelled meditation on the nature of life, love and death. The lyrics detail an hallucinatory stroll through the underworld where the hero comes into contact with the divine."

He adds, "After watching Michael Robinson's visionary short film These Hammers Don’t Hurt Us, I was obsessed with this idea of trial, judgement and reincarnation. That’s where the three sections of "Between Me and My Maker" come from: life, death and rebirth, like the metamorphosis of a butterfly."

2042 will be Kele's first release since his Leave to Remain soundtrack earlier this year.

"Between Me and My Maker" is out now. Kele's new album 2042 will be released 8 November via his own label KOLA Records in association with !K7, and is available to pre-order now.
