John Carpenter reveals new track "Distant Dream" from sophomore album
Having retired from filmmaking, Halloween director John Carpenter has decided to take up music full time. His first offering from his upcoming LP takes a sinister, synth-rock tone that'll leave you feeling pumped.
"Distant Dream" is a tense track that pulsates with '80s infused synths and a tense build up into an edgy, rock-fuelled fiasco. With persistent clashes of cymbals and a harsh beat, Carpenter forces us into an atmospheric space, much like a horror or sci-fi film.
With news that he will perform his music for the first time ever at this year's ATP Iceland, the retired director looks to be taking a career-changing path.
His second album Lost Themes II is out 15 April via Sacred Bones Records. Listen to "Distant Dream" below.
