Jeffrey Lewis plays through the rain at End of the Road Festival
Jeffrey Lewis and Los Bolts brought some much needed sunshine to a biblically wet End of The Road Festival earlier today with a wit-filled, rip-roaring late afternoon set.
Commencing with a song beginning with the lyrics "Now I'm sorry about the weather", Lewis touched on topics as diverse as the inevitability of death and the highly underrated qualities of the humble bacon buttie. For an act commonly associated with ramshackle, lo-fi punk ballads, his band delivered a taut, virtuoso performance and although his trademark comic strips sadly didn't get an airing, their combination of musical chops and rapid-fire lyrical brilliance resulted one of the most memorable sets of the weekend so far.
