Japanese Breakfast's Michelle Zauner has finished the "first draft" of Crying in H Mart film script
Japanese Breakfast's Michelle Zauner has given an update on the Crying in H Mart film adaptation, revealing that she's finished the "first draft" of the screenplay.
After confirming in June last year that her Crying in H Mart memoir is being adapted into a feature film, Japanese Breakfast's Michelle Zauner has revealed to Consequence that she's just finished a "first draft" of the script.
"So I actually just finished the first draft of the screenplay," Zauner said. "My producers really like it, so hopefully the revision process won’t be too brutal. And yeah, hopefully that will come out sometime in the next couple years. I’m just playing a lot of festivals and being back on the road, and Crying in H Mart the movie [will arrive] maybe sometime in the next few years."
The film will be produced by Stacey Sher and Jason Kim, and is set to include a soundtrack by Japanese Breakfast.
Crying in H Mart started off as a 2018 essay in The New Yorker.
