Jack Dorsey posts Radiohead song as opening statement on Elon Musk's Twitter takeover

Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey has shared his thoughts on Elon Musk's purchase of the social media platform, and opened his statement with a link to Radiohead's Kid A track "Everything In Its Right Place".

Last night (25 April) it was revealed that Elon Musk had reached an agreement to buy Twitter for around $44 billion, and the platform's co-founder Jack Dorsey has since weighed in on the sale, revealing that he believes Musk buying the platform "is the right path".

Dorsey, who is a huge Radiohead fan, opened his statement on Musk's Twitter takeover with a link to Radiohead's Kid A song "Everything In Its Right Place", and continued his thread by writing, "I love Twitter. Twitter is the closest thing we have to a global consciousness."

"The idea and service is all that matters to me, and I will do whatever it takes to protect both," Dorsey continued. "Twitter as a company has always been my sole issue and my biggest regret. It has been owned by Wall Street and the ad model. Taking it back from Wall Street is the correct first step."

He wrote, "In principle, I don’t believe anyone should own or run Twitter. It wants to be a public good at a protocol level, not a company. Solving for the problem of it being a company however, Elon is the singular solution I trust. I trust his mission to extend the light of consciousness."

"Elon’s goal of creating a platform that is "maximally trusted and broadly inclusive" is the right one," Dorsey continued. "This is also Paraga's goal, and why I chose him. Thank you both for getting the company out of an impossible situation. This is the right path...I believe it with all my heart."

Dorsey concluded, "I’m so happy Twitter will continue to serve the public conversation. Around the world, and into the stars!"

Back in 2019, Pitchfork reported that Jack Dorsey had a "Radiohead Room" at the company’s office which would play the band's music around the clock.
