The first Ja Ja Ja London night of 2016 presented a diverse trio of Nordic acts at The Lexington
Ja Ja Ja's London monthly club nights are back, celebrating all that is good about new Nordic music.
The first show of 2016 saw a diverse line-up play The Lexington on Thursday night, featuring Danish experimentalist CTM, Finnish hip-hop artist View, and dark electronic duo Smerz.
CTM (Cæcilie Trier Musik), a cellist, singer, composer and member of Choir Of Young Believers, brought the crowd to a standstill with her vivid lyricism accompanied by interpretive-like piano work.
Cæcilie's mini album Suite for a Young Girl is out now via Danish label Tambourhinoceros. She recently spoke to Best Fit about the process behind writing her "mini musical or opera".
Next on the bill was View aka 23-year-old Helsinki-based hip-hop artist Finn Juuso Ruohonen.
View stirred up the audience by pairing his bandmate's trigger-sharp trap beats with his often intense rapping, set against a backdrop of slick visuals. Watch the video for "Lace" ft. LCMDF.
Headlining a refreshingly varied night of music was Norwegian-born act Smerz (Catharina Stoltenberg and Henriette Motzfeldt ) who are based in Copenhagen.

The duo's hypnotic and beat-heavy electronica, bolstered by mesmerising vocals, closed the night to a near-packed out venue. Check out their latest track "Because".
