Iggy Pop and Bowie's Berlin years depicted in new biopic
The period known as David Bowie and Iggy Pop’s ‘Berlin Years’ is set to be portrayed in a new biopic film.
The two stars re-located to West Berlin in 1976, with Bowie sharing an apartment with Iggy Pop and working with Brian Eno and Tony Visconti on what would be regarded as his ‘Berlin Trilogy’ of releases – Low, Heroes and Lodger.
These records displayed a new avant-garde sound for Bowie and revitalised his career.
Pop, meanwhile, recorded The Idiot in 1977, following it with his most successful LP Lust For Life.
The movie is set to be directed by Emmy-winning British filmmaker Gabriel Range, known for his 2006 fictional assassination of George W. Bush in Death of a President.
” is not a traditional rock biopic no one dies at the end,” Range said. The film is tentatively titled ‘Lust For Life’.
