Iceland's Prime Minister shares Spotify playlist; is a fan of Robyn, Young Fathers and Sigrid
The Prime Minister of Iceland, Katrín Jakobsdóttir, has curated a special playlist to celebrate 20 years of Iceland Airwaves, taking place this November 7-10 across downtown Reykjavik.
The Prime Minister’s playlist contains some personal favourites such as Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel and Primal Scream, Robyn, Björk and Sigrid. The list also celebrates some of Iceland’s newer talent including Auður Young Karin, GDRN and Milkywhale.
"Iceland Airwaves has for many years been a significant landmark in Iceland‘s cultural landscape and is a great platform for artists, not in the least up and coming artists," says Jakobsdóttir. "I have always loved the atmosphere in Reykjavík during the festival – it‘s electric."
This year's edition of Airwaves kicks off on 7 November and runs over four days and nights with around 250 bands from almost 30 countries performing in downtown Reykjavik. Best Fit are hosting a three night showcase during the event, featuring Soccer Mommy, Mammút, Nadine Shah and more. Get tickets at icelandairwaves.is.
