GoFundMe launched for NNAMDÏ after he fractures wrist in scooter accident
A GoFundMe has been launched for NNAMDÏ's medical expenses after he fractured his wrist in a scooter accident ahead of his show with Wilco and Sleater-Kinney.
Last night (10 August) NNAMDÏ's label and friends launched a GoFundMe (which has already passed its initial goal of $15,000) to cover medical expenses and "injury-related expenses".
The Chicago-based musician fractured his wrist in a scooter accident ahead of his opening performance for Wilco and Sleater-Kinney. According to the fundraiser, the musician "swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle that wasn't paying attention" and "hit a pothole" which resulted in the fracture. The description continues, "He has been in Salt Lake City, UT the last couple of days obtaining emergency medical treatment, and he is scheduled for surgery on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. He has already been to the emergency room twice and has also received an outpatient orthopedic consultation. We are very optimistic about his health given the immediate treatment advised by his doctors, and we are now asking you to help cover the unfortunate and unexpected economic costs of this injury."
NNAMDÏ wrote of the injury on Twitter, "A lil Bad news! I took a tumble before the show yesterday & Fractured my arm. In the process of figuring out surgery so I will unfortunately miss the show with
Wilco and Sleater-Kinney tomorrow. Shitty way to start off 1st tour in a year but still optimistic! Keep ya posted."
