Glastonbury Festival donates ponchos to NHS to be repurposed as protective equipment
Glastonbury organisers have donated their rain-ready ponchos to the NHS to be repurposed as PPE - personal protective equiment.
The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has put many NHS workers at risk in the UK following a shortage of PPE - some hospital staff are working without masks, gloves, and aprons, and the demand for the equiment is difficult for suppliers to keep up with.
Following Glastonbury's 50th anniversary event being cancelled this year, organisers have decided to donate their unused ponchos so they can be used by NHS nurses needing protective equipment.
According to The Guardian, Emily Eavis said they were donating the ponchos to "hospitals in the West Country".
This is the second contribution to the NHS from Glastonbury organisers. Last month they donated their medical supplies intended for this year's festival to the NHS to boost supplies during the coronavirus pandemic.
