Future Islands and Jenny Hval cover 4AD artists for label's 40th anniversary compilation
4AD has shared side three of its 40th anniversary compilation Bills & Aches & Blues, which sees Future Islands, Jenny Hval and more cover songs by other 4AD artists.
Side three of Bills & Aches & Blues sees Future Islands cover Colourbox's "The Moon Is Blue", Jenny Hval's version of Lush's "Sunbathing", Dry Cleaning's cover of Grimes' "Oblivion" and Bradford Cox's cover of The Breeders' "Mountain Battles".
Bills & Aches & Blues was first announced earlier this month to celebrate the label's 40th anniversary. 4AD actually turned 40 in 2020, but due to the pandemic, the label decided to mark the milestone this year instead with a compilation that sees current 4AD artists covering songs from the across the label's 41 years of existence.
Side one and side two of 4AD's anniversary compilation featured covers by Tkay Maidza, Efterklang, Tune-Yards, U.S. Girls, Aldous Harding, Helado Negro and more.
The compilation title is inspired by the opening line of Cocteau Twins' "Cherry Coloured Funk", and will also include covers by Big Thief, Ex:Re and more.
