Frances shares new songs "Ocean In Gold" and "Rare"
Frances has returned with her first outings of 2021 "Ocean In Gold" and "Rare", both of which will feature on her upcoming second album Wonder.
Having already released "Other Side Of The World" and "Eclipse" as the first tasters of Wonder last year, Frances has returned with two more cuts from the album - "Ocean In Gold" and "Rare" - marking her first singles of 2021.
Speaking about the songs, Frances says, "These songs have always been a pair in my mind which is why I felt I had to release them both together. They’re both just about being totally in awe of somebody. I remember when the lyric ‘my love you’re worth the weight of the ocean in gold’ came into my mind, it actually brought a tear to my eye because I felt I’d finally summed up that feeling of awe. Weirdly, "Rare" was written about five years before "Ocean In Gold", but it’s like it was always waiting for its partner and now they can finally be released together."
Wonder will be Frances' second album, following her 2017 debut LP Things I've Never Said, and saw Frances write, produce and perform the eight tracks.
She says of the album, "Wonder is the album I’ve always wanted to make but never knew how, until now. Writing and producing it myself and having that singular vision has been the most important part of the whole thing. It wasn’t made in an expensive studio, it was all made and recorded in my home and those circumstances allowed me to be totally fearless. I made music that I want to listen to, music that feels so pure and personal both lyrically and musically. It’s literally me, wrapped up in a body of work and that makes it scary but so special to release."
