Fontaines DC announce debut album with punchy opener "Big"

The band gained momentum last year from four double A-side singles. "Big" is the opening track from Dogrel, and sees director Molly Keane follow a young lad as he strolls down Moore Street in Dublin with confidence.

Expanding on the visuals, the band say, "We felt that great ambition was a sickness, and we got Grian's 11 year next-door neighbour to say it to you all because he's got the presence of a hundred frontmen."

Five of their singles from 2018 will also feature on Dogrel, including "Too Real", "Hurricane Laughter", "Chequeless Reckless", "Liberty Belle", and "Boys In The Better Land".

Taking to Twitter to announce their record, the band explain, "Dogrel is a crude, traditionally Irish working-class form of verse, historically looked down upon by literary critics."

Fontaines DC have a huge year of touring ahead of them, having already been confirmed to play The Great Escape, and End Of The Road festivals, as well as supporting IDLES on their US tour. The Dublin group will play The Garage in London on 17 April as part of their UK tour. Find out more.
