Fierce Panda to release new single by Fake Laugh, and you can hear it exclusively on Best Fit

To lure them from that stasis, it had to be a pretty special artist, no doubt.

They've enlisted Fake Laugh, the moniker of London-based "dream sorceror" Kamran Khan, whose cut "Kinda Girl" jangles and ripples with the glory of a thousand summer dusks. It's a deliciously floaty gauze with '80s twangs and jaunty Hawaiian uke rhythm burbling underfoot; there's a simple love concept at play, which recalls the rock'n'roll ballads of yore, but slathered in reverb and Cocteau Twins-y FX, it'll slither straight into your lug 'oles.

A spokesman for Fierce Panda explained their return to the singles format:

"We here at fierce panda are ferociously excited to kick off the year by inviting the beloved one-off single format back to the label. The aim is to showcase and support a variety of incredibly talented new artists from around the world, and share what we believe to be thoroughly satisfying music. Singles will be available digitally and physically in the charming, and practical, form of a strictly limited beer mat."
