Ed Harcourt announces new record Furnaces
Ed Harcourt has announced his new record Furnaces and revealed the first two songs: "The World Is On Fire" and "Dionysus".
Furnaces will be Harcourt's first record for Polydor, and seventh in total - it's described as his "most ambitious and abrasive" album yet.
Flood (Nick Cave, PJ Harvey) produces Furnaces, with Warpaint's Stella Mozgawa, The Invisible/Polar Bear's Tom Herbert, and Hannah Lou Clark performing. Tom Waits collaborator Michael Blair adds percussion, and Hunter S. Thompson collaborator Ralph Steadman has produced the artwork. Quite a crew.
Harcourt's also announced a new headline show at the Village Underground on 21 September. Tickets will be on sale 8 July.
Speaking about the LP, Harcourt says: “I wanted to make a record that people can cry, f**k and fight to. I don’t think there are many records out like that at the moment, but all my favourite records have that, whether it’s Prince or Nine Inch Nails. I hadn’t made a record before that has this kind of danger to it.”
