Death From Above ditch 1979 and drop ace new track "Freeze Me"
Death From Above 1979 have severed ties with 1979 going forwards - and they've shared frenetic track "Freeze Me" to mark the occasion.
Listen to the track now on BBC iPlayer.
While debuting the track on MistaJam's BBC Radio 1 show, as the Hottest Record In The World, they revealed that their next album "will not be 10 years" - referencing the decade-long gap between their previous records. Unfortunately we shouldn't expect it super soon.
Earlier this week Death From Above teased the new release by sending physical editions to fans. This is the first new music from the Canadian rockers since "Virgins" in 2015. Their latest LP The Physical World was released in 2014.
As well as the fresh noises, Sebastien Grainger and Jesse Keeler are now just Death From Above - various tags and social handles are gotta keep the '1979', but everything else will bear the label Death From Above. It's unclear exactly what's changed but as Consequence Of Sound note, there's sordid history between Death From Above and LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy's label DFA Records (that's kinda been patched up by the sounds of things?).
