Burns formed Dead Or Alive in 1980, with their big break coming in 1985 thanks to the release of classic pop hit "You Spin Me Right Round". The band put out seven records in total, with final album Fragile coming in 2000.
As well as his work with Dead Or Alive, Burns released a handful of solo singles, including 2004's Pet Shop Boys-produced "Jack & Jill Party".
