David Bowie's personal furniture collection being auctioned off
Sotheby’s is set to auction off David Bowie’s celebrated and extensive collection of Italian furniture.
Before his death, Bowie had built up an impressive collection of furniture from the Milan-based Memphis group and Italian designer Ettore Sottsass. He acquired over 100 pieces, all of them boasting bright colours and postmodern quirks - check out the Sottsass-designed Carlton bookcase below.
The lowest-value items could fetch as little as £60, whilst the priciest - the bookcase - could reach up to £7000.
The auction will take place at Sotheby’s on New Bond Street in London on 11 November. It goes alongside an exhibition from 1 to 10 November at the same location.
Two further Bowie auctions, also taking place next month, will be focusing on his collection of contemporary art.
