"David Bowie Is Happening Now" film proposed for global cinema release
Centered on the David Bowie exhibit at the Victoria and Albert Museum, the doc David Bowie is Happening Now is in talks for a possible global cinema release later this year. This info comes from Geoffrey Marsh, the museum’s Director of Theatre and Performance, who shared the news with NME last night.
Prior, the film was shown for one day only, coinciding with the final date of the exhibit, which closed on 11 August 2013. “At the time we didn’t know if we wanted to do it more broadly and we’ve been looking at that over the last few months,” Marsh stated, “because we’d very much like to release it globally at some point in the future. We’re currently working on that, but we haven’t got a date yet.” He went on to mention that he is particularly enthused about the idea of spreading the doc to international audiences who may have missed its first go in London.
Though the exhibition closed in London back in August, it will open in Berlin on 20 May, where it will remain until 10 August 2014 (at which point it will move to the US, landing first in Chicago).
