As we previously reported, it seems that Daft Punk have brought out their own range of ‘Get Lucky’ condoms, with Diplo posting a picture of the product on Instagram earlier this week.
It seemed at the time like the French electronic duo had partnered up with Durex for the promotional item advertising the band’s lead Random Access Memories track. Now, however, Durex deny involvement.
The condom company recently told MTV:
“We are aware of reports that Durex has launched Daft Punk branded condoms following their hit single ‘Get Lucky’. There is no Durex promotion or partnership with Daft Punk in the U.S. or any other markets and Durex is not posting free packs to the world’s top DJs as suggested. However, we do hope that by using Durex condoms, music-lovers will continue to make sweet music together and have great sex!”
This doesn’t mean they’re not some sort of bootleg release, with Durex condoms repacked in a promotional campaign box. Sony Belgium have been seen handing out the items at various music festivals. But probably best bet not to use them when ‘Getting Lucky’ just in case.
