Courtney Love to release new memoir at Christmas, reconsidering her acting career
In a new interview with Vanity Fair, soon-to-be-former Hole singer Courtney Love talked about the new memoir she’s releasing in December, her return to the big screen, and how she’s a huge fan of the band Savages.
Love talked about how her memoir is less inspired by Patti Smith and more so by Russell Brand’s My Booky Wook, saying,”I tried to write it myself Patti –style and I just couldn’t. So I hired a co-writer. He’s done some Tommy Lee, Slash, AC/DC stuff. You know, it ain’t going to be Just Kids. When I get older and grayer and really can sit down and reflect and maybe have a little spring cottage on the Thames in Oxfordshire, I can get out an old typewriter and start bashing away.”
She talked about what topics she’ll cover in her new book: “I will explain in detail why I wasn’t in Girl, Interrupted, why I wasn’t in The Matrix, why I didn’t do Joplin biopic and all of that stuff. It’s all for a really good reason. You know, I’m still fairly cute, though. For a 49-year-old broad, I’m pretty cute.”
Love, who has appeared in such films as The People vs. Larry Flynt and Sid and Nancy, also mentioned some potential acting prospects she’s considering: “I’m looking at different HBO and Showtime stuff and features. It had gotten to the point where Dancing with the Stars was asking me if I wanted to do it for the 20th time. I even was asked to do a chat show—a chat show!— twice. Can you imagine?”
She also expressed her adoration for the all-female-fronted Savages, via a Katy Perry slam, saying “I would love to tour with them. I just wrote them a gushy girl fan letter because I had been listening to their stuff all day and I get so excited whenever I see a new female artist that’s good and doesn’t have fireworks coming out of her tits.”
